Are You Ready For a NY Drug Rehab Center?
Last Updated on Tuesday, 2 March 2010 03:45 Written by Sam Friday, 26 February 2010 12:15
There are many different reasons people go to a NY drug rehab center, or any other one across the country. Some arrive there because their friends and family performed an intervention, physically taking them and admitting them to the facility. Others have to go because of some kind of trouble with the law, either for using, or selling, and any where in between. The biggest problem is, that if you are not ready to get help, no amount of pressure can make your change. The moment you leave the center, your first quest is going to be getting that first fix.
Sometimes, having to go into a NY drug rehab center is the moment that you hit rock bottom, and if you don’t do something you might end up dead, or in prison for a long time. This is often where people hit rock bottom, and can finally admit to themselves that they need help. If this is the case, they are in the right place, because these centers can offer many alternatives, and give the drug addict hope.
When looking for a NY drug rehab center for you or a loved one there are some things you should keep on the look out for. Sure, any facility can dry a person out, but the key is to keep them from relapsing. You need a center that not only offers detox, but counselors for getting to the bottom of the problem, and educators to teach recovering addicts new habits and skills to replace drugs as their coping system. It should have a nutritional program so they can learn to eat right. It should also have an after care program as well.

What do NY Drug Rehabs Have to Offer?
Last Updated on Tuesday, 23 February 2010 02:25 Written by Sam Wednesday, 24 February 2010 12:20
There are many NY drug rehab centers, and all of them have a lot to offer. Some treat individual addictions like heroin, methamphetamine, or prescription painkillers, some treat a wide range of addictions in one facility. You may want to find one that just specializes in treating the addiction you or a friend might have. What are some of the things that these facilities offer?
First and foremost is drug detoxification. Whether it is strapping the person down, or sitting with them as they go through the drug with draw symptoms, and administering anti drug medication, the only way to continue is getting cleaned up. This may take a day or a week or more, and drug detox requires supervision. For this purpose, these is a nursing staff on call 24/7. These treatment centers also have doctors, and staff that are specially trained in treating addictions. There are counselors available to get to the underlying causes of addictions, abuse, depression, etc.
Two of the most important things that any drug rehab center needs to have is an education program, and after care treatment options. A recovering addict needs to learn to cope with life without drugs, changing social and behavior patterns, and education is the key. While you can get the addict clean, and teach them the right steps to continues with their recovery, with out an after care program, many will relapse, and possibly wind up right back in the treatment center. While no clinic can offer 100% relapse prevention, the more steps taken, and the more aftercare options available, the less likely a recovering addict is going to relapse. There are even treatment centers that offer holistic drug treatment options, but these should be combined with conventional methods as well.

Is It Easy To Get Into a NY Drug Rehab?
Last Updated on Tuesday, 23 February 2010 02:20 Written by Sam Tuesday, 23 February 2010 02:20
With all the staggering statistic about drug and alcohol addiction, what is a person to do if a friend or loved one is suffering from an addiction? The first place to start is by looking for NY drug rehab centers in your area. You can find them in you local phone book, but the best place to start is online. There are many different drug rehab centers in the NY area, but you have to know what you are looking for. For one, drug addiction, while similar to alcoholism, differs in treatment options.
It isn’t hard to get that person close to you into a NY drug rehab center. The first thing many object to is the cost. Some of these treatment centers can cost tens of thousands of dollars. However, there are some things you can do to reduce these costs. One is that in some cases, you can get their insurance to cover it, especially if it is life threatening, (no brainer there.) If the person doesn’t have insurance, there are a number of programs available to cover these costs, sliding scale fees, and even free in an emergency.
What ever the cost of NY drug rehab, the important thing is getting them for treatment. Getting them better, and back into your life, is far greater than any drug rehab cost, and the sooner the better. Worry about these costs later, and be more concerned with that person’s well recovery right now. It may take an intervention from other people who also care about them as well. Some rehab centers will actually schedule an intervention with their counselors involved if this is what it takes to get them the help they need.

Drug Trafficking to New York: The Facts
Last Updated on Friday, 19 February 2010 05:02 Written by Sam Friday, 19 February 2010 05:02
A wide number of drugs are trafficked to New York. Heroin, crack cocaine and MDMA being some of the main examples. New York also serves as a distribution centre for many drugs, supplying a lot of the US.
The most common type of heroin in New York is South American, specifically from Columbia. Heroin is sold in what is known as dime bags. The name comes from the fact they cost $10, regardless of how pure the content is. Heroin gets into New York mostly via smuggling on airplanes, and it is transported from New York to other areas via buses and trains.
Cocaine
Cocaine in New York is mostly from Mexico, and it is dealt with within New York often by Dominican dealers. The cocaine in New York does not normally come directly from Mexico however, but instead is transported from Mexico via a border area (Texas, California etc). Cocaine can be found in many areas of the city, although crack cocaine is generally found in the more depressed areas. Crack cocaine is not as big a problem as it was about 20 years ago, although it still poses a threat to the poorest areas of the city.
Marijuana
Most of the marijuana in New York comes from other areas of the US, or from Canada via air freight. Marijuana trafficking is heavily linked to a number of organized crime gangs in New York, who view it as a highly profitable trade.
Meth
Meth is not a highly trafficked drug, but its use is growing within New York. The meth in New York generally comes from the West coast of the US via air freight. Meth labs are also a growing problem within New York. Meth labs exist simply so that individuals can produce their own drugs for their own use or (most frequently) to deal to others.
These are the main drugs, however so called ‘club drugs’ also have a degree of prominence where trafficking is concerned, although not to anywhere near the same degree as meth, marijuana, cocaine and heroin. Club drugs include MDMA and rohypnol.
